I worked on the User and Loyalty Team at Opentable. Much of my work involves building and maintaining applications in node.js (typescript) and react. I've worked on various projects from helping to expand our loyalty program, to improving the booking experience, to building integrations between our sister brands such as Kayak. From time to time, I will work on some legacy infrastructure in c#, and help clear some of the chores involving GDPR, and security. I consider myself a full stack engineer, although I prefer architecting systems at the server side api and database level. When it calls for it, I can enjoy crafting user facing interfaces with react. I am not stuck or focused purely on one technology as Opentable is powered by many microservices that are composed of various languages and frameworks. Being both a polyglot in programming and lean thinker in product, I find a great interest in plumbing the right data that needs to be analyzed, and ab testing features that are hopefully helping people enjoy the world through dining.
This past summer I was also a summer mentor for our intern class, which included helping to teach and manage summer interns about to attend their senior years at UCLA and MIT.
Prior to the User/Loyalty team I worked on the Booking Flow team, where the main goal was to iterate on diner booking flows in order to increase seated diners and abtest revenue.
Other teams included:
GraphQL Backend Team: Built many connectors to microservices, added observability with grafana and kibana, as well as improved Apollo client implementation/performance.
Kubernetes Infra Team: Owned a short term solo project to build a generically compatible SDK client for all javascript/node/coffee/ts express/koa/hapi existing codebases using our vpc/security practices. This client enabled services to redeploy/migrate onto a upgraded kubernetes environment. Used techniques such as tokenization, helm credential management, health checks and exponential backoff.
