# Vedant Puri > Currently developing data-intensive infrastructure @ Klaviyo. Currently contributing to Klaviyo’s data platform, developing scalable query services. Recently, I have been involved with building ingestion pipelines, establishing data contract specs, and designing declarative platform APIs. Having worked on multiple teams, I care about designing systems that are predictable, evolvable, and easy for other engineers to build on, with interfaces that are expressive, flexible and intuitive for clients to use. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Klaviyo Jan 2022 – Present | Boston, MA I work on Klaviyo’s analytics and data infrastructure, building systems that power large-scale product analytics. Earlier in this role, I helped lay the foundation for Klaviyo’s V3 APIs — the next generation of our external developer APIs. Our team piloted the new design and built the core abstractions that now underpin APIs adopted across engineering (20+ teams) at Klaviyo. I later worked on the re-architecture of our segmentation engine, designing core ingestion components and implementing several parts of the distributed execution pipeline. The system processes billions of realtime customer updates using technologies like Kafka and ClickHouse. This redesign significantly improved performance, unlocked several new features, and substantially reduced infrastructure cost. On the Data Warehousing team, beside maintaining and evolving our low latency analytics services (gRPC + Clickhouse) used by several feature teams, I helped build foundations for Klaviyo’s lakehouse-style data platform on S3. This included developing ingestion pipelines capable of operating at petabyte scale using Spark, Iceberg, and S3 Express, as well as designing declarative specifications for schemas, data contracts, and governance exposed through internal platform APIs. More recently, my work has focused on the query layer of this platform — building flexible analytics APIs using gRPC on top of StarRocks to power product-facing analytics features directly from the lakehouse. Alongside this work, I regularly review technical RFCs across the team and broader area, contribute to architectural discussions and roadmap planning for the team, and mentor engineers on system design and implementation. Separately, I founded Klaviyo’s Open Source Sponsorship Committee, which continues to support multiple open source projects each year. ### Software Engineer @ Klaviyo Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | Boston, MA I worked on backend systems supporting Klaviyo’s core product infrastructure, focusing on reliability, performance, and reusable service patterns. During this time I built a generic framework for catalog change side-effects that enabled automated workflows such as price-drop and back-in-stock notifications. I also improved system availability by partitioning the catalog service to isolate long-running operations from latency-sensitive requests. Alongside product work, I contributed to developer productivity by modernizing parts of the CI pipeline and significantly reducing build times. Used third party RPA software systems to automate routine tasks in companies primarily for cost cutting. Worked closely with the software team focussing on performance improvements and further development of current available tools ### Software Development Intern @ talentrack.in Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | India Built an internal analytics tool to analyze website access logs and generate engagement statistics for outbound marketing campaigns, including email opens, clicks, and unsubscribe rates. Developed a pipeline in PHP to automatically retrieve access logs from AWS S3, parse the data, and store aggregated metrics in a database for reporting and analysis. The system ran daily via scheduled cron jobs to keep metrics continuously updated. Built a lightweight analytics dashboard using PHP, SQL, HTML/CSS, and Google Charts to visualize engagement trends across daily, weekly, and monthly timeframes. Ideated for an app that TechMahindra wants to launch for internal administration and easy and efficient system of access for visitors. ### Intern @ Magnon\TBWA Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 Involved in building a sophisticated digital platform. Learned WordPress as a content management system, familiarized myself with MySQL as a database, and integrated Facebook API’s for social integration, used HTML/CSS and understand various web-hosting environments. Worked closely with a project manager and coordinated with various stakeholders to complete the project successfully.
