Technical Lead, Core Infra
Designed the entire Infra component (High Availability and Expand Cluster), implemented HA and prototyped Expand Cluster, mentored a junior engineer in finishing Expand Cluster.
Designed and implemented the Redundancy Factor 1 (RF1) on ESXi feature, which allowed customers to run the Nutanix stack on single nodes.
Technical Lead, OEM Platforms
Responsible for ensuring that hypervisor upgrades (primarily VMware’s ESX and KVM) worked on Nutanix appliances and software-only nodes. Issues arose from undocumented changes in ESX, for example to the bootloader in ESX 6.7 and the partitioning scheme in ESX 7.0 which blocked our ability to upgrade. As more than 50% of our customers use ESX, these were serious issues, but not a single issue has been reported in more than 3 years after the fixes went in.
This group was responsible for the entire imaging process of a bare-metal server, starting with uploading a minimal Linux kernel to the server via IPMI, spinning up a hypervisor (KVM, ESX, Hyper-V, Xen), and then launching the Nutanix Controlling Virtual Machine on the hypervisor.
