# Victor Chen > Python, Full Stack, Javascript, Java, React, AI, Kubernetes, Graph Database, Software Engineer | Computer Engineer @ UC San Diego Location: Cupertino, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/victorchen1 I'm a builder and I love solving problems for other people. While looking for a full time opportunity in either Software Engineering or Hardware Engineering, I find myself working on several personal projects, including designing a website for a datacenter startup VOFO, building a receipt scanner that helps friends split the bill, a little box that reminds you of your daily goals and celebrates when you complete them, a 1v1 balloon tower defense typing game, and a web app that helps large friend groups organize hang outs. I love talking about my projects, so feel free to message me about any of them if it piques your interest! I worked at a data center startup during COVID times, interned for Amazon the summer before my Junior year, and interned for F5 Networks the summer before my Senior year. At the datacenter startup I learned how to set up a fully functioning network of servers, efficiently place and wire them up, and how to handle requests to rent them out and to upgrade specific hardware. My project with Amazon was building a full stack web application that visualizes data to help managers make informed decisions about our team's product. My project with F5 was implementing and testing the efficacy of using a graph database to predict fraudulent credit card transactions. I learned a lot about working professionally from my internships, and gained a lot of mentors that I am extremely grateful for. In high school I started to create some video games with GameMaker and Unity for fun, and learned competitive programming, participating in competitions and hackathons with friends to hone my skills. In college I found myself finding a lot of satisfaction tutoring for the CSE department, and being involved in Project in a Box, a club dedicated to building workshops and kits for both elementary schoolers and college students. I ended up leading two projects at the club, one to build a RF transmitter that combines the audio signals from a microphone and a aux cable, and another one to build a small basketball arcade game kit. The basketball kit consisted of laser cut wood that my team and I designed, Arduino and accompanying electronics, and a series of coding challenges to make it all work. We ended up running the workshop twice and built a bigger version of it for our end of the year arcade event. ## Work Experience ### Full Stack Engineer @ Empirico Jan 2024 – Present | San Diego, California, United States ### Software Engineer @ F5 Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 Wrote Python unit tests for or team's core machine learning product to catch bugs before deploying to production ### Software Engineer Intern @ F5 Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 Worked together with the Tigergraph team to implement a Fraud Knowledge Graph and incorporate it in our team's software stack (Google Kubernetes Engine and Google Cloud Storage) Researched and wrote queries to assign probabilities of fraud for transactions in the database. ### Software Engineer Internship @ Amazon Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | Seattle, Washington, United States Spent 12 weeks building a full stack website with React, FastAPI, and Java that helps managers visualize internal data relating to the Amazon Prime Lapidary team, helping them make better decisions on the management and building Lapidary Experiences. ### Data Center Technician and Team Manager @ VOFO Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 Learned to set up and wire a data center from scratch. Handled hardware upgrade requests online and in person, like increasing RAM, hard drive capacity, and number of CPUs. Later managed a group of college students to move, set up, and wire close to 500 servers in a huge moving project. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Engineering UC San Diego ### Saratoga High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/victor-chen-a6465a183 --- Source: https://flows.cv/victorchen1 JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/victorchen1/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
