# Victoria Hale Williams > Software Engineer Location: Brooklyn, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/victoriahalewilliams When deciding on a major in college I reflected on who had made the biggest impact in my life up until that point. It was my high school Social Worker. I was inspired by the work he did to help me, as well as so many other students that I had the privilege of witnessing. As I completed my studies through undergraduate and graduate school, it became clear that it only takes one individual to change the trajectory of someone’s life. I knew I wanted to be that one person. It was this belief that motivated me to take on roles where I could make an impact in the lives of youth in various settings. My early career led me into roles where I helped low income, at-risk populations to navigate systems that were not designed to benefit nor support them, but rather to oppress them. I became increasingly frustrated with these systems but was never in a position to affect systemic change. As my frustration grew, my curiosity and vision for change grew with it. I started to think differently about the dysfunctional systems and ways that I could impact change for the better. It is this curiosity and vision that led me to technology. I saw an opportunity to create functional systems to support clients whom I had worked with over the years. I knew that if I was going to make a change for them, I had to make a change for myself. I enrolled in Flatiron School’s Software Engineering program and graduated in April 2020. I developed a love for exploring different technologies and thinking of ways to create applications and opportunities for others to improve their situations and live sustainable lives. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Popmenu Jan 2021 – Present ### Software Engineer @ Listen360 Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 ### Software Engineering Student @ Flatiron School Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 During my time at Flatiron School, I gained a range of technical skills including Ruby on Rails, Javascript, React.js, Redux, HTML, CSS, Object Oriented Programming, MVC framework, ActiveRecord, Sinatra.
