Software Engineer in the Digital Distribution Tech team primarily working on single page web applications such as the BlackRock Advisor Centre using modern web technologies and frameworks such as Angular, NgRx and RxJS.

Two year rotational graduate program with the opportunity to work in four different technology teams within the Aladdin Product Group (APG).

Rotations:

1. Portfolio Construction — developed a scalable full stack application using Angular and distributed Java server-side technologies.

2. Aladdin Transfer Agent — implemented requirements in Java to support fund migrations from external transfer agents to the internal transfer agent

3. RTI (Risk) — worked on scalable model construction components and the implementation of BlackRock’s equity factor risk model in Java.

4. Aladdin Wealth Tech — worked on the first EMEA offering from the team using modern web technologies such as Angular, NgRx and RxJS

As a summer intern, I was given the opportunity to explore BlackRock and familiarise myself with the Aladdin platform.

Tasks:

• Develop a simulator to test STP applications.

• Lay the foundations for testing the SWIFT v4 specification.

• Modernise Fund Trading team applications using Angular 4.

As a year-long placement student in the Market Data team, I was able to make contributions to the platform and app dev teams within Market Data.

Tasks:

• Improve the efficiency of the TREP platform through the automation of manual, labour intensive tasks in Python.

• Contribute to the frontend and backend development of a cluster maintenance orchestrator.

• Resolve accountability issues regarding exchange driven changes through the production of a feed style AngularJS web application.
