# Winnie Wang > Software Engineer @ Rakuten International Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/winniewang Hello! ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Rakuten International Jan 2022 – Present | San Francisco, California, United States ### Computer Science Tutor @ Unknown Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### CSE Undergraduate Student Researcher (ERSP) @ UC San Diego Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | La Jolla, CA I worked with two other undergraduate researchers to study research methods and develop a research proposal by the end of fall quarter. As part of this program, I enrolled in CSE 193, and later CSE 198, and participated in weekly meetings with my ERSP group and the graduate research team. We worked on improving the classifications of computations on remote, multi-tenant FPGAs and the implications of those classifications for modern data centers and user security. ### UI/UX + Graphic Designer @ Triton Engineering Student Council (TESC) Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | San Diego, California, United States As a member of the design committee, I created wireframes and graphics events and opportunities hosted by TESC. ### AT&T Summer Learning Academy Extern @ AT&T Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 ### NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar @ NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Mountain View, California - I participated in a 5-week online course where I learned about the Mars Exploration Rover mission and NASA's history in engineering and space exploration. - After completing the online course, I became eligible for a four-day onsite experience, which included networking with current NASA engineers and competing in a 2-day robotics competition, at the NASA Ames Research Center. - I took on the software engineering aspect of the project, using LEGO EV3 software, and worked alongside hardware designers to build a rover that could traverse a surface and do something. Specifically, I worked on creating a program that used a color sensor to detect colors on the surface and have the rover verbally announce each color. ### Google CodeU Alumni @ Google Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 I was one of 141 undergraduate students invited to Google's CodeU summer program. The twist was that all the work was completed remotely. I was assigned to work in a team of 4 under the mentorship of a software engineer. Through 12 weeks of the program, we learned about JSP, web application development, and Google App Engine. My team built a chat application with JSPServlets and HTML/CSS that allowed users to edit and delete their previous messages in a conversation. I was in charge of creating an activity feed with JSP so that users could view the conversations they've joined. In addition, I wrote Java code that ensured users could only edit their own messages, making the editing feature similar to that of a real product. ### Student at Computer Science Summer Institute @ Google Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Mountain View, CA In three weeks, we reviewed basic data structures, created applets, and ultimately used that knowledge and experience to build our own web applications in teams using Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Yaml, and Google AppEngine. I was on the group that built FoodPost, which helps people and businesses locate local food banks for the purpose of donating their excess food. As a team, we learned how to navigate Google Datastore and the relationships between keys and values when it came to storing an individual's account information. My role was to learn how to implement the Google Maps API in an HTML file so that a user could visually locate and find directions to their local food bank. ### Intern @ AFSF | Architectural Foundation of San Francisco Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | San Francisco Bay Area - Learned how to use SketchUp and Autodesk library software (Revit, 3ds Max, AutoCAD) to create original designs for the 5M Project. - Worked collaboratively with coworkers to ensure the success of our presentation of the design. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science UC San Diego ### Associate of Science - AS in Mathematics City College of San Francisco ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science San José State University ### Lowell High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/winnwang - Portfolio: https://winniewang.me --- Source: https://flows.cv/winniewang JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/winniewang/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-11
