# Xuan Song > Senior Product Designer @ Microsoft | Generative AI · Copilot · SaaS Platform Location: Seattle, Washington, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/xuansong I design how humans work with intelligent systems. I’m a Product Designer lead currently shaping the AI and Core data analytic experience across Microsoft Fabric, where millions of people use data to build, reason, and decide. I work in messy, technical, ambiguous spaces — turning new capabilities into products, and products into systems. My craft lives in platforms, primitives, and patterns: the invisible structures that make complex tools feel simple. I care about leverage, clarity, and building tools that expand what people can think and do. ## Work Experience ### Senior Product Designer/ Product design lead @ Microsoft Jan 2024 – Present | Redmond, Washington, United States - Own the product and design strategy for Microsoft Fabric Data Warehouse, scaling the platform to 260K MAU and 3.3M+ monthly compute usage, and established the north-star metrics and operating model used across teams to guide long-term platform investment and growth. - Identify and incubate net-new product directions ahead of the roadmap, defining problem spaces, success criteria, and experience principles in areas without prior ownership, and translating ambiguous technical capabilities into executable platform strategy. - Set design direction in highly ambiguous spaces by aligning executives (Directors, VPs, CVPs) around long-term product vision, while mentoring designers and raising the quality bar for system-level thinking across the org. - Lead cross-org design strategy across creation, consumption, monitoring, management, and Copilot experiences, establishing foundational interaction models and design patterns now adopted broadly across the Fabric ecosystem. ### UX designer II @ Microsoft Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 - Incubated and shaped Microsoft Fabric from concept to multi-workload platform (0→1) as a founding designer, defining the product vision, executive narrative, and foundational system architecture for the experience layer used across the org. - Defined the AI UX strategy, mental model, and interaction primitives for Copilot across Microsoft Fabric, establishing the standard AI-assisted workflow pattern adopted across data engineering, warehousing, and analytics workloads. - Led the end-to-end design of the Fabric Data Warehouse experience, one of the core platform workloads and a flagship pillar of the Fabric launch, featured in Satya Nadella’s Build 2023 keynote. - Designed and shipped Power BI Datamart (Build 2022), a strategic product investment that helped scale Power BI to 20M MAU and materially influenced top-line organizational KPIs. ### Conversational designer @ UW Medicine Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 - Collaborated with an interdisciplinary team of medical practitioners, researchers to design a chatbot experience to address racial health disparities in breast cancer screening. - Increased women’s mammogram scheduling numbers by 3.5 times by providing a patient scheduling chatbot.
