The lessons cover areas such as data cleaning, data visualization, ethics in working with data, and more. We are already at 116 pages and growing! The Coding School is a non-profit dedicated to improving computer science education access for underrepresented students across the globe. CodeConnects, reachable at https://codeconnects.org/, is the online platform that connects students and tutors for 1-on-1 lessons in a variety of tech-related tracks. ### Software Engineer (SWE) Intern @ Facebook Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Menlo Park, California, United States I was a server intern on the Instagram Growth Activation team. Over the course of the internship, I developed new user-facing product features end-to-end using Python's Django framework for the backend and Javascript's React framework for the front-end, conducted A/B testing to evaluate impact, and collaborated with cross-functional partners, including product management, design, content strategy, and privacy. These projects improved topline metrics for the team, including global monthly active users and US daily active users. Through these experiences, I learned more about client-server protocol, API design, and better engineering practices such as test-driven development. ### Teaching Assistant (TA) for CS250: Computer Architecture @ Department of Computer Science @ Duke University Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Durham, North Carolina I lead weekly recitation sections and hold office hours to support students in the computer architecture course. This covers programming in C, memory management, assembly languages via MIPS, digital logic in Logisim, caches, etc. ### Data Science Research Intern - Big Data for Reproductive Health @ Data+ Program @ Duke University Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Durham, North Carolina As part of the Big Data for Reproductive Health team, I helped create a web hub of tools to improve the accessibility of women’s health data for global policymakers, advocates, and researchers. Being the machine learning lead, I focused heavily on designing and developing a clustering and prediction R Shiny app that I hope will help better show the stories behind women's contraceptive trends. It allows for interactive visualization of unsupervised clustering and risk predictions made via supervised machine learning on 5 years of contraceptive use data. The other goal of our project was to scale applications created in the previous year. I helped scale 4 R Shiny apps to web deployment by streamlining data access, reducing app latency by over 73% for roughly 90 million data points from 55 countries.
